Janet Mandel, art educator, will present the works of Mickalene Thomas. This program is made available in collaboration with the MAIN Library Alliance. Registration required for Zoom link.
Mickalene Thomas has given us vivid and multifaceted artworks—paintings, collage, photography, video, and site-specific installations. Her work addresses our common
perceptions of beauty, sexuality, celebrity, and politics, and expands and subverts these notions in original and complex ways. The subject of a major international tour that began at The Broad in Los Angeles in May of 2024, and travels to The Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia on October 20, and culminates at The Hayward Gallery in London from February 11 to May 5, 2025, Mickalene Thomas has assumed her rightful place in the pantheon of the most important, original, and inspiring artists of the 21st Century.
The mission of the Dover Free Public Library is to educate, inform, enlighten, enrich, and entertain. Our vision is to remain a living and active contributor to contemporary Dover fulfilling the interests and needs of the community it serves.
